Wingham 2026
On Wednesday 20th May 2026, Minnis Bay went to Wingham Wildlife Park. We started the day with a ‘weird wildlife’ workshop. The children learned that animals have key adaptations to their body to help them to survive. For example, they saw the quills of a porcupine and the claw of a sloth. After they were taught all about the adaptations for animals on our planet, the class were given a blank box to design their own animal with different adaptations.
Next, the children then got into their groups and explored the park. The class really enjoyed looking at the pink flamingos and the noisy otter, who was hiding to begin with. The adults leading the groups were very proud of the children’s behaviour as they walked around the park.
Then, the children were incredibly hungry, and had worked out a huge appetite, so we sat down by the penguins and ate our lunch. We had some interruptions from the birds roaming the grounds, but the children weren’t phased. On this very hot day, the children then enjoyed a lovely cold ice lolly!
Finally, we went round the rest of the park and enjoyed seeing the extremely tall giraffes and playing in the sand as they look for fossils!
Overall, this was an incredibly fun day, and luckily the rain held off! Miss Warner was so proud of Minnis Bay for their fantastic behaviour and enthusiasm to see all the incredible animals.
